FLASH (Family Life and Sexual Health) is a widely used comprehensive sexual health education curriculum developed by Public Health Seattle - King County. This training, a highly interactive and research-based learning process that supports educators with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully use the FLASH program in the classroom, will focus on delivering the newly revised middle and high school versions. Educators who successfully complete the FLASH training walk away with knowledge and skills on:
The foundations of sexual health and HIV instruction
- How to answer sensitive student questions
- Key concepts to use in teaching the FLASH curriculum
- Best practices in methodology for teaching key sexuality education topics, such as abstinence, puberty, sexual violence prevention, LGBT issues, and more
6 clock hours will be provided (no cost)
Copies of the FLASH Curriculum are NOT provided. It is NOT necessary to have a copy of FLASH in order to attend the training, but it is helpful. If you are ordering FLASH, allow 2-3 weeks for timely processing/receipt.
King County teachers can request free access to the curriculum by emailing FLASH@kingcounty.gov (please include your name, position, school and physical address).
If you are outside of King County, you can request a free license: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/2289715/Registration-for-Free-FLASH

You will be responsible for printing your own copy, downloading to your laptop/tablet for use during the training, or accessing the curriculum during the training using your laptop/tablet and training site wifi.
