  • Makerspace Training Follow-Up

    Greetings All,

We hope you all enjoyed your day of learning yesterday.  There are a few resources that we wanted to make sure you have access to:

    • Padlet- https://padlet.com/mlarsen4/4chwf5g963hv  The Padlet will continue to have resources added throughout the 2019-20 school year.  Please check back often and feel free to share this and all training materials freely with other educators.  Remember that most of the centers, challenge cards, activities, and kit information is under the "Choose Your Own Adventure" column heading.
    • Makerspace Action Plan-The action plan is attached as an editable document. This is the document that you will submit along with your grant application in the spring.
    • Maker Day PDF- Just another resource chalk full of challenges and ideas that you can use with student learners.
    • Don't forget to register for the Librarians Supporting the New Social Studies Standards workshop being held at Central Valley High School on Saturday, March 28 from 9:00 to 3:30.  Register at https://www.pdenroller.org/catalog/event/98776

Finally, if you haven't already done so, please complete your workshop evaluation on PD Enroller.  You should all have received an email from PD Enroller, sent to the email account you used when you set up your PD enroller account.  The email has a direct link to the survey, or you can sign into PD Enroller and get to the survey by clicking on your name in the upper right-hand corner, then "My Events".  Survey completion is a requirement for clock hours and the feedback in an important part of workshop refinement and continual improvement.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing your all again in March!

    Morgen and Trish

    • Makerspace Your School Library Workshop - Pre-work and Attendee Info

      Greetings All,

We are excited to see you all this Saturday, from 9AM to 3:30PM at Central Valley High School.  We have a few items that need your attention before Saturday:

      1.  Complete this survey ASAP!  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Makerspace_Spokane

      2.  Dress in layers.  Temperature control can be unpredictable on weekends.  We want you to be comfortable, so dress for the Pacific Northwest, and layer up.

      3.  Lunch is on your own.  Feel free to brown bag it.  We have a refrigerator and microwave available in the library.  There are also plenty of fast food option near by, including Dominoes, Jimmy Johns, McDonald, Sweeto Burrito, Zips, KFC, Five Guys, Dairy Queen, Panda Express, Noodle Express, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and many more!

      4. Bring a laptop or Chromebook if you have one.  If not, we will have some available for you to use.

      5. Come with an attitude of adventure!  This is not a sit & get type of training.  We are going to be experiencing the learning, just as our students do.  This is going to be very hands-on, so expect to be moving, talking, learning, and sharing with others throughout the day.

      6. We still have space available! If you have a colleague who would like to attend or need STEM clock hours, registration is open through Friday. They can register at https://www.pdenroller.org/catalog/event/96753

Training Location: Central Valley High School, 821 S. Sullivan Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99037

We will be in the CV Library, located on the second floor.  Once you enter through the main entrance (see red arrow on map), climb the stairs.  The library is on the right.  An elevator is available for those with mobility issues.

      Directions:  https://goo.gl/maps/nhjk5Ww21hRGgrQZ6

Feel free to park as close to the main entrance as possible, but please don't park in any of the reserved parking!

If you run into issues, or need to contact us, please call Morgen Larsen at 360-259-8202.

      See you all on Saturday!!
