Description

Recognizing and Confronting Antisemitism in Today's World

March 3, 2022 | 4:00-6:00pm (PT) | Free

Explore Echoes & Reflections resources to support teaching about the historical roots of antisemitism, its unique history in the United States, and gain the tools to help students become agents of change and allyship in their schools and communities. This professional development will enhance your personal knowledge of antisemitism, help you understand current “trends” in how antisemitism, extremism, and other forms of hate percolate and expand in the world today, and offer valuable resources that you can implement into your classroom and wider school community.

Presented by Sherry Bard. Sherry Bard has more than 25 years of experience working in the field of Holocaust education and eyewitness testimony documentation. She is currently a senior trainer for Echoes & Reflections. In this role, she is responsible for designing and facilitating professional development programs for K-12 educators, including webinars and online courses.  She is also an education consultant for Chapman University’s Annual Holocaust & Writing Contest.  For nearly 18 years, she served in various roles at USC Shoah Foundation including the Director of Education, and the Production Manager on the award-winning Ukrainian documentary, “Spell Your Name.” In addition to her responsibilities for USC Shoah Foundation, she was appointed and served on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Education Committee.  She lives in Los Angeles, California, and is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor from Grójec, Poland.
