In this training participants will gain an introductory overview of Diversion, a person-centered approach focused on holding creative conversation to uncover solutions alongside those experiencing housing crisis. We will review key components of Diversion, the importance of its rootedness in race equity, explore how this approach can be an asset to school/housing partnerships, and hear from McKinney-Vento staff how this has been utilized specifically in school districts to bring housing resources to students and families.
Building Changes, a statewide agency that works across systems to advance equitable responses that address housing and education crises experienced by children, youth, and families. The Education Strategy team transforms ideas into action, fostering the supportive relationships and healthy environments needed to improve student centered services for the more than 40,000 students experiencing homelessness in Washington.
