This workshop, designed for K-12 educators, focuses on intentional language instruction in the classroom using the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework, 2020 edition.  This workshop highlights the Big Idea of a Functional Approach to Language Development. This offering gives K-12 educators an opportunity to review Key Language Uses (genre families) and Language Expectations with a focus on selecting and teaching Language Functions and Language Features to make language visible to students. 

This course is open to K-12 Washington public school educators only. Private schools who have opted into federal Title III services may also take this course. Contact your school administrator for details.

Access course:

Washington State public school educators and approved private school educators  access the WIDA Self- Paced Workshops via the WIDA Secure Portal.

 If you do not have a WIDA Secure Portal account, follow the steps below:

1. Use your district email address and email WIDA Client Services Center at help@wida.us and ask for access to the WIDA Secure Portal.
2. WIDA will send you an access link within 24 hours. Set up your login username and password.
3. Access the WIDA Secure Portal.
4. Select the “Professional Learning” path.
5. Scroll to the Self-Paced Workshop tile and click on the course link 
6. Select the course and begin.
7. Finish the course and download the WIDA course completion certificate for your records.

Get clock hours:

1. Complete course survey in pdEnroller: Login to your pdEnroller account, go to your Events, click on this event, then go to the Clock Hour Checklist and take the survey. 
2. OSPI will download course completion reports from the WIDA Secure Portal monthly to verify course completion.    
3. Clock hours will be processed by the 15^th day of the month following course completion.
