Description

Are you a teacher who wants your students to learn about the climate and its impacts on our society, but you are not sure what makes sense for you and your classroom? Are you a teacher who has been teaching about the climate but wants to broaden your knowledge? If you answered yes to either of these questions, this course is for you.

In this course, you will engage with 4 different approaches to thinking about teaching about the climate in your classroom:

  • Culturally Responsive Approaches to Teaching Climate Science with EarthGen
  • Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines with Pacific Education Institute
  • Climate Change Education and Ethics with Gonzaga Climate Institute
  • Bridging Climate Education and 3D Science Teaching with Institute for Systems Biology

The course provides you with a variety of resources and will leave you with insights about new pathways you might want to explore as you deepen your learning about the climate and the role that climate learning can play for your students. This course is part of the ClimeTime Project and is provided with funding through the Washington State Climate Science Proviso. This Canvas-based workshop will provide 4 STEM clock hours for the completion of all work. Partial clock hours will not be offered.
