Description
This is a free, self-paced, asynchronous course offered by OSPI that introduces K–12 educators to the theoretical and practical aspects of Media Literacy & Digital Citizenship instruction. Learning will happen on the Canvas platform, where participants will explore resources and complete assignments, including contributions to discussions with other educators.
This course is relevant for any K–12 educator, in any role, working with students in any grades. It consists of eight modules, including one that introduces participants to the definitions of Media Literacy and Digital Citizenship used throughout the course. Other modules are built around a framework that organizes Media Literacy & Digital Citizenship skills into essential questions and learning objectives by grade level. The course is a revised and expanded version of some of the components of a course that was offered last year.
Participants are not required to complete every module; clock hours will be awarded based on modules that are completed. Please note that the clock hours are not STEM clock hours.
Access to the Canvas course is provided after registering on pdEnroller. Course work can be submitted at any time before January 7, 2026.
