This course is only open to K-12 Washington educators currently employed by a Washington school district. Private school educators whose school has opted into Federal Title III services may also take this course. Contact your school administrator for details.

This course is designed for Spanish and English bilingual K-12 educators, administrators, and support staff who assess language development in a bilingual context.

This workshop presents bite-sized professional learning opportunities to equip bilingual educators to use microtools and multimodal resources designed to tackle common challenges related to classroom assessment. Educators can select their learning journey as it relates to their teaching and learning contexts. This course and its resources align with WIDA frameworks to attend to linguistic practices of bi/multilingual students and includes options for customization and a range of exemplars.

*This course is intended for bilingual Spanish/English educators serving bi/multilingual learners. The course is primarily in Spanish and includes resources in English and Spanish.

By engaging in this workshop, participants will be able to

• Articulate the value of classroom assessment for language development in bilingual contexts

• Apply the example micro-tools and multimodal resources created and curated by WIDA Español

• Customize assessment tools and resources to fit their context

 Access course:

Washington State public school educators and approved private school educators access the WIDA Self- Paced Workshops via the WIDA Secure Portal.

 If you do not have a WIDA Secure Portal account, follow the steps below:

1. Use your district email address and email WIDA Client Services Center at help@wida.us and request a WIDA Secure Portal account.
2. WIDA will send you an access link within 24 hours. Set up your login username and password.
3. Access the WIDA Secure Portal.
4. Select the “Professional Learning” path.
5. Scroll to the Self-Paced Workshop tile and click on the course link 
6. Select the course and begin.

Get clock hours:

1. To receive clock hours, participants must fulfil the time requirements of the course.  60 minutes of "active participation" equals one clock hour. 
2. Clock hours will not be awarded for less than 60 minutes of time spent actively participating in the course as per WAC 181-85-030. No exceptions will be made.
3. Upon course completion, fill out the course survey in pdEnroller: Login to your pdEnroller account, go to your Events, click on this event, then go to the Clock Hour Checklist and take the survey. 
4. OSPI will download course completion reports from the WIDA Secure Portal to verify course completion and time spent actively participating in the course.    
5. Clock hours will be approved quarterly.  Pay attention to when you complete the course.  No exceptions will be made. 

Note:  WIDA Certificates of Completion are not accepted for attendance verification or clock hours.  The hours on the certificate are a general estimation by WIDA and do not accurately reflect that time spent in course.
