Description
This is a free, self-paced, asynchronous course offered by OSPI that is relevant for any K–12 educator, although it is most relevant for those who provide direct instruction to students. Participants might be educators who are familiar with the range of skills encompassed by Media Literacy and are looking for new strategies for teaching these skills. Or participants might just be curious to know more about options for teaching Media Literacy, even if they’re not planning to teach it.
This course consists of two modules that introduce participants to the “Constructivist Media Decoding” strategy developed by the nonprofit organization Project Look Sharp, and one module that introduces additional inquiry-based options.
Participants are not required to complete every module; clock hours will be awarded based on modules that are completed. Please note that the clock hours are not STEM clock hours.
Participants will have the option to contact the course facilitator to discuss questions or ideas.
Access to the Canvas course is provided after registering on pdEnroller. Course work can be submitted at any time before June 24, 2026.
