Description
2019-2020 Informal Science Educators Meeting Series
This ’19-'20 school year, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the Educational Service Districts (ESDs) will co-host six meetings statewide. This registration is for the Tacoma meeting location. It is now a teleconference meeting.
The ISE meetings build on previous meetings and will be a continued opportunity to explore how informal and community-based science education providers can best support classroom science learning and implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
This year includes a special focus on climate science education and the draft revised goals of the Washington state Environmental and Sustainability Literacy Plan.
*NOTE: Due to the expanding outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in our state and with guidance from the state Department of Health and Governor’s Office, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) is changing the Informal Science Educator meeting to a teleconference meeting.
We have also shortened the agenda, and the meeting will run formally from 8:30 – 2:15. We will have an optional 15-minute Zoom overview from 8:15-8:30 for those new to Zoom, then kick off the full meeting at 8:30. Due to the shortened meeting times, we will award 6 clock hours and 5 STEM clock hours. You can view the updated agenda here: ISE Participant Agenda_.docx
Notes about Zoom: You do not need a video camera to use some of the cool features of Zoom. If you use your phone for the audio, you can still use the link to view slides.
The safety of our participants is our top priority, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion or hardship this may cause.
Please reach out to Elizabeth Schmitz at OSPI with questions, concerns, or if you need an accommodation.

*Participants should use computer audio if possible. Zoom is experiencing heavy use and some individuals are having trouble dialing in. Participants do not need a camera (although we would love to see your smiling faces), but they will benefit from using the computers to see and edit slides during the meeting. This will still be an interactive meeting!
