Description

Preservice Mentor Academy Part 1-2 is a virtual event on the development of foundational mentor and coaching skills and knowledge with a clear focus on mentoring preservice teachers (student teachers, teacher candidates, practicum teachers, etc.) This training is intended for experienced educators who will be supporting the instructional growth and development of novice educators and/or preservice educators, although the skills transfer to work with veteran educators, too. Topics include: understanding the functions of mentoring, facilitating learning-focused conversations, using instructional frameworks to promote growth, conducting observations and providing effective feedback, gathering data, promoting equitable classrooms, and maintaining confidentiality.

Event Notes

2. Substitute Request: If you register for this event by October 7 at 11:00am, you are eligible to receive a substitute reimbursement from OSPI.

3. Part 3 Registration: This registration is for Part 1-2. Part 3 is typically held 6-8 weeks later so participants have opportunities to practice the skills between sessions. 4. BEST’s on-line events are interactive training, not webinars. We ask participants to use video when possible so that others can see and interact with them. It is possible to call in and join without video, if necessary. In all cases, participants are asked to participate in all activities via audio.
