Description

During this past year of school closures and remote learning, the legislature passed important legislation and financial support designed to increase college access, especially for communities that are furthest from educational opportunity. This support focuses on improving financial aid application completion rates through the implementation of an annual Financial Aid Advising Day and development of community partnerships to establish a college-going culture in communities experiencing lower rates of college matriculation.

Join OSPI-WSAC staff and some incredible STEM Network partners in exploring lessons learned from last year’s newly mandated Financial Aid Advising Day, during which staff supported seniors to secure the financial aid needed to transition to their post-high school goal. We’ll review the new legislation passed by the legislature and explore some promising strategies that districts used in partnership with local STEM Networks to support students financial aid application completion. Participants will also learn more about available information, direct support and resources for supporting the FAAD.
