Presenters
- Brett Niessen
Description
This 2-part session will explore the reasons why sexual health education is especially important for students with disabilities within the context of Senate Bill 5395 and Erin's Law. We will explore curricula purposely written for students with disabilities as well as how to adapt district-adopted curricula, and making changes for students with disabilities. We will model and practice teach activities. And we will discuss in and out of school sexual health resources for students with disabilities. Participation in both Day 1 and Day 2 is required to receive clock hours.
What to bring / do before the training:
- Have your district provided sexual health curricula handy for the training. Talk to your building principal or district curriculum specialist if you are unsure.
- Look on your district website or ask your curriculum supervisor about policies related to sexual health education for your district; especially what curricula are adopted and policies for supplementation
