Our civic health in the United States is at risk. Data suggests that teachers and students feel disinclined to talk about politics due to the divisiveness surrounding the issues. However, data also suggests that keeping political discussions local can help alleviate some of this antipathy. This workshop will explore the resources that Teach with TVW has to connect your classroom to the State government, ensuring that students have the facts to have productive discussions about issues that are affecting them at a local level. Participants will leave with classroom ready resources to engage students in the upcoming election, the state legislature, and issues of importance to students.
