Description

The College and Career Leadership Institute is entering its third year with Cohort 1, 11 schools in the Road Map Project. These schools are participating in a multi year professional development opportunity to work in school teams (at a minimum one administrator, one college and career specialist, one core content area teacher and one school counselor-though many schools have additional team members) to build a system of college and career readiness that ensures all students have what they need for the path they choose after high school. In the College and Career Leadership Institute, participants are building a system to support students to all paths after high school (including but not limited to apprenticeships, technical programs, two year and four year degree programs). Each workshop this year will address three key areas of work:

  1. Learning with and from Latinx students: Across all 11 schools in CCLI Cohort 1, Latinx students are experiencing the most barriers in the current system. This year, each school team will develop and execute a plan for learning from a small group of Latinx students in their school

  2. Strengthening the High School and Beyond Plan: In a continuation from previous workshops, schools will continue to learn about how to increase the effectiveness of the High School and Beyond plan, including building a scope and sequence, strengthening lessons and effective use of online tools (Naviance, WSIPC, Career Cruising, Maia learning, etc)

  3. Continuous Improvement model for Financial Aid application completion: Participants will build on knowledge last school year to apply a continuous improvement model to Financial Aid completion in their schools

Event Notes

Participants will engage in large group, small group, school team and cross school team learning opportunities throughout both workshop days.
