Description

Puget Sound Educational Service District and the University of Washington invite teams of middle school science teachers to participate in this program, supported by Clime Time Climate Science funding provided by the Washington State Legislature.

The purpose of this learning series is to …

Inspire all students to participate in understanding and challenging climate science problems

Adapt curriculum to improve focus on equitable 3-dimensional instruction for use in MS science courses with a focus on the climate science standards. This includes localization of phenomena, inclusion of diverse pedagogical approaches, and expanding science and engineering practices within instruction.

This multiple day event engages teachers in three, full day learning opportunities as well as online Zoom meetings to support their piloting and implementation of the work. Funding supports districts with teacher release time.  Teachers will also receive a stipend for out-of-school time meetings.

Teams of teachers are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to teachers from schools with high populations of students underrepresented in science.
