Description
How do high school students’ ideas about climate science compare to the general public? HS Science teachers will be engaged in phenomena and problems that integrate core ideas of Earth Systems Science (ESS2, ESS3), Physical Science (PS1, PS3, PS4), Life Science (LS2, LS3, LS4), and Engineering (ETS1). Numerous resources will support face-to-face and online teacher learning, as well as the adaptation to three-dimensional learning tasks. Equity for students takes a central role in this course: challenge students with local environmental justice problems, and inspire them to pursue STEM-related careers in the context of regional workforce projections. The course will culminate with a public event, “Climate Change Summit,” showcasing teacher and student projects sometime in June.
