Description

The ECLC- Affinity Group Coaching series, provides educators with the skills and confidence to lead affinity groups for culturally relevant and supportive spaces. Participants will learn how to create spaces for those of similar race to participate in connection, support, and inspiration. Such places provide support for educators to not only survive the racial isolation that often occurs in their spaces, but to move towards thriving.

PROGRAM DETAILS

In this series, you will gather with educators from across the region to explore strategies in creating and sustaining affinity groups. You will have the ability to engage in problems of practices that happen in affinity spaces, tools to increase engagement, as well as promoting open dialogue. You will return to your site ready to implement concrete strategies for facilitating affinity spaces where educators of color can thrive and build a more inclusive school community where all staff are supported, thus furthering a school community where all children are seeing representation of their educators thriving.

OBJECTIVES

Explore a variety of problems of practice while facilitating affinity groups.

Deepen your understanding of why spaces of racial affinity matter.
