Presenters

Description
In May 1975, more than 600 Vietnamese refugees arrived in Camp Murray in Washington state, invited by then Governor Dan Evans. Thousands more resettled in the following months. Today, Washington is home to more than 81,000 Southeast Asian Americans, many of whom are refugees or descendants of refugees. In this workshop, educators will learn about the resettlement experiences of refugees from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in Washington state, and how they survived by building resilient communities. We will hear accounts from Southeast Asian community members. Curriculum resources and tips will be provided.
This workshop is a collaboration between The Asian American Education Project, Make Us Visible Washington, and Puget Sound Educational Service District. This session will be recorded and shared with registered participants after the workshop.
