Description

The Fundamental Course of Study Course Outline, approved by the Paraeducator Board on January 10, 2018, is the required course framework providers must utilize to create the paraeducator Fundamental Course of Study (FCS). The course outline aligns with the paraeducator standards of practice. In alignment with the FCS requirements and HB 1658, the content below will be delivered by Puget Sound ESD trainers.

  1. Identify and give examples of the types of strategies used to seek, provide and clarify information and feedback to staff, students and families
  2. Discuss the nature and possible sources of conflict among team members, students, and families
  3. Identify strategies for repairing relationships after conflict
  4. Identify and apply problem-solving processes to various case studies and scenarios

Target Audience: Instructional Paraeducators who are required to complete the Paraeducator Fundamental Course of Study.

This one-hour online training will be held via ZOOM. An invitation with the Zoom training LINK will be EMAILED to registered participants two days prior to the event.

Please note:

  • PSESD will notify participants of cancellation one week before training date if necessary.
  • One clock hour will be issued by OSPI upon completion of the course.
  • If you are a paraeducator, please talk with your district BEFORE registering for a class at the ESD to support the Fundamental Course of Study to ensure that it aligns with your districts plans for training.
