Description

The R.I.S.E. Summer Colloquium is a dynamic two-day gathering designed to cultivate a movement of educators committed to just and equitable K-12 science education. This event serves as the launch for the 2025-2026 cohort program, which will equip teachers with the tools and support needed to develop and implement critically and culturally responsive, justice-centered (Social Focus) science units. Participants will engage in collaborative learning with university partners, peer mentors, community organizations, and education leaders, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and strategies.

As a cross-regional initiative, the R.I.S.E. Network is grounded in cutting-edge research, transformative pedagogical frameworks, and innovative practices aimed at expanding the boundaries of traditional science instruction. Our goal is to create inclusive and consequential science learning experiences that ensure every student, regardless of grade level or curriculum, receives education that is both relevant and impactful. The R.I.S.E. Network Initiative is dedicated to developing critical knowledge and pedagogical approaches that advance NASEM equity frames and justice-centered science teaching and learning.

A ClimeTime partnership between PSESD, ESD 112, University of Washington and many justice-serving community-based organizations.
