Course Description

Advancing Listening Comprehension in English Learners offers rigorous, practical strategies to enhance listening comprehension in English language learners by building on students' strengths through asset-based approaches that value their cultural knowledge, multilingual abilities, and life experiences. It emphasizes listening as foundational to expressive and receptive language development, supporting growth in speaking, reading, and writing. Educators will learn to design engaging, level-appropriate listening lessons while addressing both internal and external factors that impact learning. A key component focuses on developing equitable, reliable, and culturally responsive listening assessments that accurately reflect students’ abilities. Participants will also learn how to use assessment data to tailor listening instruction and meet the diverse needs of students. Whether you are new to ELL instruction or seeking to refine your practices, this course provides adaptable frameworks and practical tools to help educators promote effective listening comprehension skills and foster language development across any teaching context.

Registration, Enrollment & Clock Hours

Enrollment fee of $199.00 per course to get started. Once course is completed, it will be an additional $135.00 to claim 45 clock hours. Clock hours are $3.00 per clock hour with a $15.00 minimum per person per event. Even if you claim less than 3 clock hours, the minimum $15 fee still applies.

You can register anytime between 9/1/2026 through 8/25/2027, but your course MUST be completed by 8/31/2027.
