Course Description
In Advocating For Students: The Special Education Process and Beyond, the purpose of this course is to better prepare you with the necessary skills to identify students with a disability as well as implement child-specific interventions and accommodations to support those not performing to their potential.
This course will provide you with a strong foundation in the principles of special needs advocacy, with an emphasis on practical application of the legal requirements that drive special needs education. You will learn about the IEP process and about 504 Plans and use your knowledge of the rights and entitlements granted by special education laws to create effective plans for student success.
This course satisfies the WA State Equity requirement for certificate renewal!
Registration, Enrollment & Clock Hours
Enrollment fee of $199.00 per course to get started. Once course is completed, it will be an additional $135.00 to claim 45 clock hours. Clock hours are $3.00 per clock hour with a $15.00 minimum per person per event. Even if you claim less than 3 clock hours, the minimum $15 fee still applies.
You can register anytime between 9/1/2026 through 8/25/2027, but your course MUST be completed by 8/31/2027.
