Join us for a day of in-person learning in Vancouver, WA with Robert Kaplinsky (creator of Open Middle and Real World Problems for every grade). While we are offering two full-day workshops that complement each other, either day can be attended as a one-day workshop.
Day 2: How to Implement Engaging Problem Solving In your Classroom
This workshop will explore:
Why math education continues to leave students unprepared for life and what we can do to fix it
How to use ideas from Building Thinking Classrooms and the 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematics Discussions to facilitate problem solving lessons
How to use engaging methods for uncovering and fixing hidden student misconceptions
How to facilitate real world and Open Middle problems while considering both the teacher and student perspectives
